Indigenous
People
Indigenous people and their knowledge and culture are vital
for the preservation of the environment. Our goal is to help
them preserve their collective knowledge and stimulate the
survival of their cultures in the face of adversity.
Health
One of the greatest current problems facing the indigenous
people is the lack of medical attention and high mortality
rates due to disease already under control in the Western
world, including malaria, parasites, yellow fever, and malnutrition,
among others. Amazonian Project will stimulate projects that
will combat this huge problem.
Nutrition
Amazonian Project supports an important nutrition program
geared towards indigenous children.
Alternative Medicine
The Orinoco Center will be the location for a
school of alternative medicine. Training as well as medical
attention will be free of charge. Our work will be pivotal
in new medicine, looking to rescue the indigenous legacy of
their herbal remedies.
Education
Amazonian Project views education as a lifelong
opportunity. The educational process plants the seeds for
solving the problems of a society. Education determines the
direction that a particular life will take. A large part of
our modules are didactic in nature. Our goal is to train and
educate on the subjects of ecology, sustainable development,
and cultural legacy to the indigenous peoples while empowering
their culture and collective identity so as to find the most
viable solutions available from their cultures paired with
the appropriate technologies that Amazonian Project can offer.
Identity,
Communications and Culture
We aim to develop a communications network between
the various indigenous communities in Venezuela. This network
will allow them to enter into the information age while maintaining
their unique cultural and social identities.
Handcrafts
We will establish outlets for Amazon handcrafts
at our Orinoco Center as well as in Caracas. We hope to find
international markets for their products, and in this way
we support their cultural, economic and social activities.
Sustainable
Development
Promote, divulge, exchange and investigate in
the areas of appropriate technologies, Organic Farming, Permaculture,
Aquaculture, and Eco-tourism.
The Amazon region lives the paradox of having immense river
resources but lack of food programs that take advantage of
this. Amazonian Project supports an important project for
Aquaculture
and raising domesticated animals, in that way, avoiding the
depletion of the wild fauna and giving the indigenous people
an important source of proteins. We strive to promote their
love for their land, and give them reasons not to move to
the cities, by providing them tools for them to meet their
needs. In the same way, we will promote Organic
Farming, which is a significant part of their background,
although increasingly pesticides are being promoted and used
in the sensitive Amazon region.
Eco-tourism
Through all of our projects, we aim to raise the
living standards and profile of the whole Amazon region. Eco-tourism
is poised to be one of the great contributors to the Amazon
economy. Our programs will bring renewed splendor and identity
to one of the oldest regions of the world, known to be one
of the greatest treasures that every human being helped preserve
